Sass, Snacks, and the St. Pete Pier: A Session with Violet & Dakota
There is a specific kind of magic that happens when you take two big personalities out to a location as iconic as the St. Pete Pier. When those personalities belong to Violet and Dakota, you know you’re in for a day filled with laughter, a bit of bribing, and a whole lot of sass.
The Duo Dynamic
From the moment we started, it was clear that Violet and Dakota were the stars of the show—and they knew it. These two are absolute naturals in front of the lens, though they have a very specific set of "contractual requirements" for their modeling work. Namely: Treats. While we spent a good portion of the afternoon coaxing them to look toward the camera, Violet and Dakota had other plans. They were much more interested in what was happening behind the scenes (and inside the treat bag) than the scenic views of the bay. Honestly, that’s where the best images come from—those candid, sassy moments where their true spirits shine through.
A Family Affair
One of my favorite parts of this session was finally getting their amazing mom in front of the camera for a few frames. We even had her BFF, Jesus, there to help join in on the fun (and the laughs). Seeing the bond between them all is exactly why I love doing what I do. It’s not just about the dogs; it’s about the family that loves them.
The St. Pete Backdrop
The Pier provided the perfect modern, clean backdrop for their vibrant personalities. We navigated the crowds and the distractions, finding those quiet pockets of light that turned a fun afternoon into a gallery of fine art.
Despite their "refusal" to look at the lens at times, we captured some incredible portraits that I know their mom will treasure. There’s just something about that "duo energy" that brings a session to life.
To Violet and Dakota: Thanks for the laughs, the sass, and for letting me capture your beautiful (and hungry) hearts!
